Losing Weight-Just when you thought you knew about the Basic Tips

By Pat J. Williams

Are you interested in dropping weight and losing a few extra pounds? If you are you are not alone and that is a good thing. When many people search for a solution to the same goal, it becomes possible to arrive at steps that can be taken to achieve the goal. From years of collective study, the following helpful tips are available to those looking to drop some weight:

There is no great science or secret to removing some of that excess fat. All you need to do is have a better knowledge about how to make it happen. The first step is watching your calories and figuring out how many of them you consume each day. This is important because your body needs to burn them or they end up as stored fat in the body.

For every 3600 calories you eat that you do not burn, you end up with one pound of stored fat. Conversely, for every 3600 calories you either burn or eliminate from your diet, a pound of fat will be lost.

Try to exercise a little bit each day. As previously mentioned, for each and every 3600 calories you burn off you will lose one pound of fat. And then there is another benefit to working out: it will speed up your metabolism. That means your body will become more efficient in its ability to shed off extra and excess pounds.

Progressive resistance training is helpful as well. In other words, you want to lift weights in order to speed up weight loss. Lean muscle mass has a tendency to speed up the metabolism more than anything else. And you do not need to lift very heavy weights in order to speed up the metabolism. Even a moderate amount of weight loss will definitely play a huge role in keeping your excess fat down.

Eating smaller meals is another way to eliminating stored fat. Those who eat more frequently will be able to rev up their metabolism. However if you've been dealing with long gaps between meals this can create a slower metabolism. It's important you do not eat more calories throughout the day during these settings. Basically what you're doing here is eating the same amount of calories but in several more sessions and smaller portions.

All of this is very helpful, but one of the most important things you can do is just be active. You don't have to go to the gym 5 to 7 days a week, grab your iPod and run 5 miles a day, or even head to your local public pool and swim 200 laps. The best thing you can do is just find a hobby that you enjoy. Whether you enjoy sports, walking in the park, canoeing or a million other things, all of them help you keep your metabolism rate up and burn the calories.

We also recommend getting away from refined sugar. This alone will pack on stored fat more than anything else out there. This is because sugars have large amounts of empty calories and will spike your insulin levels. So take advantage of all these tips we've given you and start losing the weight you've wanted to for quite some time. - 31997
